At ffabb, we are devoted to creating furniture that beautifies spaces and enriches lives. Each piece carries a unique story, woven through its design, materials, and craftsmanship. Recently, a significant milestone is having our furniture collection prominently featured in AD Italia.
We invite you into ffabb’s process, as we highlight the creative journey undertaken with Interior Designer, Marianna Tomlenovich of Tomlenovich Design.
At the core of this feature is the creative mind of Marianna Tomlenovich. Her vision harmonizes seamlessly with the philosophy of ffabb. Marianna's designs are renowned for their innovative approach and meticulous attention to detail. What makes her collaboration with ffabb truly unique is the profound trust and mutual respect that permeated the entire creative process, leading to an exceptional synergy.
In the entryway, a large-scale, leather-wrapped sculptural mirror became a prominent feature of the project. Designer Celina Dalrymple of ffabb had envisioned this concept for some time, and Marianna and her husband's trust allowed ffabb to bring the mirror to life. Our visions were in harmony, and through pattern templating on the wall the final shape was actualized. As ffabb worked on the mirror, the rushing emerged organically, showcasing the leather's natural texture and quality, avoiding a plastered appearance.
Inside Marianna’s office, ffabb adapted the Formal Mallo Sofa to perfectly fit the 120-inch wide office nook, creating a seamless, built-in look while maintaining a freestanding work of art. Through the collaborative process with Marianna, ffabb sculpted the final shape, making sure it aligns with the spatial requirements and the comfort needs of Marianna and her family.
Upholstered in a soft, high-wearing green velvet, the custom curved sofa complements the straight edges of the viola-stone coffee table and walnut chair.
At ffabb, we’re always creating – adding new designs into our back-pocket looking to be created. The Leather Wrapped Mirror, Navana Dining Chair and Barrel Bar Stools are three examples that Celina has been working on for the past year, and with Marianna's keen eye for colour, tone and aesthetics, helped breathe life into the new designs.
In a pursuit to elevate one of our most simple collections, ffabb embarked on a transformative journey to add some zhuzh to the Parachut Collection. We’d originally intended to create a slipcover for the stools, using a sturdy jute linen from Cloth Studios. To add more depth, Marianna proposed incorporating a long bouillon fringe, however our efforts to source a suitable match for the fabric proved challenging. But in two ffabb fashion, a stroke of inspiration happened at the upholstery bench. By stitching a horizontal seam around the ottomans slipcover, we then frayed the weft (horizontal grain) of the fabric to the stitch line. The method allowed us to create a stunning fringe from the same linen yarns, enhancing the overall charm of the Parachute Stool.
In our experience working with Tomlenovich Designs, collaboration proved to be a critical factor in the success of the project. From the brainstorming stage to the final touches, the process was marked by open communication, creative risk, mutual respect, and most importantly, trust. Through attentive listening and the sharing of expertise, we collectively brought Marianna’s vision to life. This collaborative partnership allowed us to push the boundaries of design and craftsmanship, creating a truly exceptional outcome.
